Wittersham Ladies, Tenterden
Wittersham Ladies Stoolball (a game much like cricket) has been played at Wittersham since the 1960's.
In 1998 the game was re-established as part of the Wittersham Sports Club and became a well known venue for weekly matches, and, holding their own annual tournaments - with teams from Icklesham, Peasmarsh, Westfield, Rye, Pett, Hooe, Ninfield, Robertsbridge Seddlescombe among others attending each year.
In 2006 the team unfortunately disbanded and the game once again disappeared from the Sports Club -
But now in 2017 with a new influx of eager ladies we can be seen once again playing on a Thursday evening - a whole new group of ladies who basically had never heard of the game!! Nonetheless eager to practice and play every week, and hoping to have a few matches against the neighbouring villages soon! And who knows maybe join a friendly league next year and again hold its own tournament!!
